The Cruz hit is fun to watch. Most guys couldn't even reach that pitch. He pulled it on a line.

Crazy game. Falter gives up one hit that shouldn’t have been a hit. Bart goes yard. Bednar blows another save. And they win.

Love what Chapman is going so far. And as WTM said, what if Bart decides that he’s that guy after all?

That's the fun of baseball. Any single game is just waiting to subvert expectations.

Frustrating win, but a win nonetheless. Missed the 9th, but Bednar’s second blown save this season already is a bit concerning.

There's a difference between a blown save and a blow up. He has not blown up, and they won both games that he failed to register the save. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Like the man says, "he missed almost all of spring training." He is pretty reliant on his fastball thus far and doesn't seem to have a good feel for his slider yet. He'll be fine.

I would be concerned if he would have had his full spring training work. He missed much of it so he is still going through his bumps that would have been in the spring.

Bad outings? It’s April. If a guy is consistently bad beyond then, it’s more acceptable to be worried.

Like I said I am not worried at all right now. He just hasn’t hit a groove yet but he is hitting pitches and not missing by much except like today one sailed high. He looks more like he would In the midst of ST. If it continues for a while and he never finds that groove, then maybe think about worrying in a month or so. Like you say, it’s early and not a huge deal all. 😁

Maybe it’s not the same. But I remember the one outlet (Bucs Dugout maybe?) basically having a candlelit vigil for Mark Melancon’s missing velocity early in 2015…and he was totally back to normal by the end of April that season. So…I make a point to remind myself it’s early.

Well, that was satisfying and unsatisfying at the same time. Good win, should've been over earlier.

As Walk said on radio, glad we have Chapman on our side. I expect he might see some save opps in the future.

Ortiz came up big in this one outside of the obvious Falter gem.

This year does feel real different for Ortiz. Looks much more comfortable

Cruz walkoff!!!!!

Great players aren't always great. They're just great when there's a ghost runner to drive in.

Just gotta laugh. Damn that's a good catch.

Second try

BRey will walk it off

This is a concern that Shelton can't keep up with Hyde.

Expand full comment

It was a concern when he didn't bat a RH for Rowdy.

It will be a concern if Michael A. isn't our ghost runner for Bart.

Shelton said no worries…..

Why not Cutch for Tellez?

Expand full comment

Bases loaded, nobody out, and they don't score. To be known as a Golden Haines.

Tellez veteran free agent, Bart 2nd game with team, Triolo a rookie.... I don't like Haines but not sure he should get a lot of credit or grief for the performance of those three in this inning. The only one he has possibly influenced is Triolo. I get it WTM.. but this is beating a dead horse at the wrong time.

Expand full comment

Bart took an obvious ball 3 that was called a strike. Triolo got a bad call as well. Ump screwed us that inning.

Expand full comment

My point was this was not the time to blame Haines' coaching abilities. I am sure better opportunities will present themselves.
