Overview

Furtado spent a year at Wake Forest, then two at Alabama, almost always as a reliever. He has excellent stuff but was always held back by poor command and control. He throws a fastball at 93-95 mph, reaching the upper-90s. His slider and, especially, his change get a lot of swings and misses. For his career, he had a 9.4 K/9 but a 5.86 ERA. Baseball America ranked Furtado 359th among draft prospects, MLB Pipeline 192nd. He signed for almost exactly the slot value of $351,400.

2023-24

Furtado didn’t pitch after signing in 2023. He spent 2024 in the Bradenton bullpen and had a lot of trouble throwing strikes. He walked 51 and threw 11 wild pitches in 47 innings. He had six fewer strikeouts than walks and a 1.92 WHIP, and opponents had a .401 OBP.
