Overview

When the Pirates signed Uribe, he’d already reached 93 mph and still had some projection.  He also throws two secondary pitches, a curve and change, and gets a lot of spin on the former.

2020-24

After missing the pandemic season, Uribe made 11 starts in the DSL in 2021. He got very good results, with a 2.76 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. His his walk and K rates weren’t good.  Left-handed batters went just 1-for-18 against him. The Pirates sent him back to the DSL in 2022 and he had a fairly similar year, except with much better walk and K rates, 3.2 BB/9 and 9.7 K/9.  His ERA (4.15) resulted largely from a high BABIP and low strand rate.  This time he had a reverse platoon split.

In the FCL in 2023, Uribe had a mostly good season, although he didn’t miss a lot of bats, with his K rate dropping to 7.7. His control was good, but in some games he got hit around. His ERA was 3.96. Unfortunately, Uribe missed the entire 2024 season with an injury.
