Overview
Allen is a toolsy center fielder. His father was a national basketball player for Panama.
2024-25
Allen got off to a fast start in the DSL but got hurt after a few games. He missed over a month, but returned in time to play 22 games total. He batted just 233/313/317 with adequate plate discipline, but for a player who was just 16 the whole time, it was a decent showing. Allen split his time evenly among the three outfield positions.
The Pirates sent Allen back to the DSL in 2025 and had a solid season, batting 236/438/355. He had high walk and K rates, 19% and 23%, respectively. His OBP was buoyed by a dozen HBPs. Allen improved rapidly during the season; his OPS by month, starting in June, was .589, .706 and 1.191. In June he had two walks and 14 strikeouts. In July and August combined, 27 walks and 22 strikeouts. Allen also stole 18 bases without getting caught, making him 20-for-20 so far in his career. He played in the outfield corners, as the team mainly used Armstrong Muhoozi and Gabriel Rodriguez in center.
