Overview

Anker was a reliever as a freshman at Fresno State, but by his junior year was the Friday starter. He’s not overpowering, with a fastball that sits at 91-92 mph and reaches 94-95. He relies heavily on a change, and also throws a slider, curve and cutter. Anker seldom walks anybody, but he’s gotten hit hard, with opponents batting .293 against him in 2025. He didn’t strike out a lot of hitters in his first two years, but fanned 10.2 per nine innings as a junior. The Pirates likely are hoping he can increase his velocity some. Baseball America ranked Anker 492nd among draft prospects, MLB Pipeline 198th. FanGraphs had him unranked. The slot amount is $380.5K.
