Overview

The Pirates drafted Glenn in 2021 as a fifth-year senior, so he was already 23 at draft time.  They probably made the pick to save slot money for the high-ceiling picks they made in rounds 2-3.  He was, though, one of the better-regarded college seniors in the draft.  The Pirates announced Glenn as a third baseman, which is where he played in 2020, but he played second in 2021 and may be a better fit there.  He has good range, but his arm may not play on the left side of the infield.  Glenn put up some impressive numbers with the bat in 2021, with a 366/438/732 line, including 21 home runs.  He showed a good eye, with 32 walks and 33 strikeouts in 272 plate appearances.  A lot will depend on how much or little his hitting resulted from him being older than most other college players.  Glenn signed for $12,500, far under the slot value of $422,300.

2021-22

After signing, Glenn played in two games in the FCL, then moved up to Bradenton.  He played mostly second, but got into a few games at third.  He hit well, with very good plate discipline and good doubles power.  He torched LHPs for a 1.307 OPS in very limited chances. In high A, in 2022, things didn’t go nearly as well. After posting a .927 OPS at Bradenton in 2021, he dropped to .625. He struck out in 27% of his plate appearances. In the field, Glenn split his time about evenly between second and third.

2023-24

Glenn went back to Greensboro and hit much better, with good power. He batted 299/380/475 over 38 games, while missing a month due to injury. He continued to hit well after a mid-season promotion to Altoona, batting 274/329/443. He made good contact, striking out in about a sixth of his plate appearances with the Hoppers and about a fifth with the Curve. He played third with Greensboro, but got some time at second with Altoona.

In 2024, Glenn returned to Altoona and his hitting collapsed to a .538 OPS. His K rate was 19% with the Curve in 2023, but it shot up to 30% a year later. Glenn split his time between second and third, and saw a little time at first.
