Overview

Van Der Linden was a lower-profile signing who so far mainly plays second as a pro.  He obviously has room to fill out.  The Pirates like his athleticism and contact ability.

2023-24

Van Der Linden didn’t hit much in his first year, and didn’t produce any power. He drew walks, but he fanned in 30% of his plate appearances. He mostly played second, but spent a little time at short and third. Returning in 2024, Van Der Linden played sparingly, getting only 48 plate appearances. He hit 200/304/200.
