Overview

Tate is a contact-oriented outfielder who’s primarily played center. Baseball America ranked him 408th among draft prospects, while the other services didn’t rank him. He went initially to Georgia and didn’t play much as a freshman, then was a starter for two years for Georgia Southern. As a sophomore, he hit for average but not much power, with a line of 369/475/489 and four home runs. He increased the power as a junior and also won the conference batting title, hitting 362/437/606 with a dozen homers. In the Cape Cod League in summer 2024, he hit for no power at all. He’s had solid walk and K rates. Tate runs well, stealing 27 bases as a sophomore, although he didn’t run much as a junior. He’s played some at second as well as in the outfield.
