Overview
The Pirates signed Vittini not long before the start of the 2022 DSL season, a couple weeks before he turned 19. He’s a catcher with good size who has some raw power.
2022-23
The Pirates didn’t activate Vittini until near the end of the DSL season. Other than one inning at first, he played exclusively behind the plate. He threw out five of 15 base stealers. In 2023 he returned to the DSL and put up a .720 OPS. A lot of that resulted from walks; in 84 PAs, he drew 17 walks and struck out only a dozen times. He played mostly behind the plate and threw out 33% of base stealers.
