Overview

Diaz signed a couple months into the 2019-20 international signing period.  He has the potential to hit and possibly to stay at short, as he has a strong arm. He’s a lean, wiry guy with good speed.

2020-23

After the pandemic in 2020, Diaz got only limited playing time in the DSL in 2021.  He didn’t play short at all, instead splitting his time between second and third.  He did little at the plate beyond drawing walks, batting just .155. The following year he returned to the level and made some progress at the plate, drawing a lot of walks and showing some gap power.

Diaz played the 2023 season in the FCL at age 20. He didn’t walk as much, but his hitting improved otherwise, as he batted 244/370/400. He mostly split his time between short and third.
