The game-ending double play in game #2 of Phillies vs Braves series will go down as one of the great MLB post-season moments.
Obviously a great catch by Michael Harris and a brilliant play by Riley to double off Harper. But Harper needs to shoulder the blame for getting doubled off. A really big blunder that a player of his talent and experience should never ever fall victim to.
As for other NL series, it’s become abundantly clear the Dodgers don’t have the pitching or lineup depth to win this month. Urias and Bauer’s idiotic behavior, along with the injuries to May and Buehler have decimated their rotation.
See I don’t think it was a huge blunder at all. It was aggressive, but if Harris doesn’t catch that, Harper scores and ties it. Then we’re taking about what a heady, aggressive play he made on the bases. If you take risks, sometimes you get burned.
It’s pretty cut and dry a bad decision. His Manager said as much after the game. Said he didn’t know why Harper wasn’t standing near 2nd base waiting to see if ball was caught or not. Worst case scenario is runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out, or runner on 1st with 2 outs.
That’s also not exactly how Thomson phrased it. “Usually you don’t pass second. You stay in front of it, make sure it’s not caught. But he (Harper) thought the wall was clearly over his head, didn’t think he was going to catch it. And Harris made a heckuva play. Unbelievable.”
That, to me, doesn’t sound like a manager saying “I don’t know what the hell he was doing.”
Fair enough. I’ll grant you this. It is a fine line between aggressive and over aggressive. If Harper had done this in the third inning, I’d probably be more inclined to see it your way and say he crossed over to reckless.
Every game except Atlanta-Philly looks like it will probably be a battle of bullpens and to see which starter can get through 4 without being bombed. I like Nola over Eldridge, so I like Philly today.
The Dodger bullpen has been excellent, so against Pfaadt, I like the Dodgers, I think. Urquidy has been bad since coming off the IL, but Joe Ryan is no great shakes. I think without a dominant starter on the mound, Minnesota is vulnerable and does not have the lineup or bullpen to square up with Houston, so I like Houston. Philly, Houston, LA.
I gotta feeling the snakes are going to smoke Lance Lynn and Fought is going to pitch his career game. Lynn has a FIP over 6 in 11 games for the Doyers and he doesn't get k's anymore.
Led the majors in homers given up so I could see it, dont trust Pfpfpfpfpfaaatqdt at all though so could be over early for either team. Like the snakes pen a little better i think
Today will be tough. I don't believe the Dodgers go without a fight, so I can see them winning that one. didn't even realize Lance Lynn was still pitching, tho, so we will see.
DBacks, Phillies, Astros. We will see how bad this goes lol
If the Phillies finish off the Braves, there'll be no team left in the playoffs that won more than 90 games.
Wins dont matter!
They mean a lot in a short series, lol
Dbacks with 3 solo shots in the third!
And a fourth!
think Duran is the best pitcher in the league
His stuff is fucking incredible, i cant imagine hitting off of him
Julien!!!!! Lets make this a game Mini-soda!
My goodness what a bomb from Harper
His double staredown of arcia was incredible
Yes. That was incredible. Legendary moment lol
Acknowledged it in the postgame presser too, what swag
Kiriloff smacked in the face
disrespect...

In short, risk wasn’t worth reward.

Risk isn’t worth potentially tying the game? Ok.
I guess we’ll just agree to disagree. I see your point though.
I have to agree with Arky because of the situation. Also, the grab Harris made of the CF wall is not an easy one to make.

Who is Eldridge?
lol... yeah Elder. Getting old sucks. At least I still remember my kids' names.
The thing about getting older is every year goes by faster
Assuming Elder lol
Phillies, Twins, Dodgers- my predictions have been so shit so far that i would immediately bet the opposite of those lol

Watch, I'll be dead wrong.

Dam. I was on the dot there. Really shoulda bet that lol
Putting money down?
I’ll probably throw a couple dollars on one of the games. Probably the Diamondbacks since I kinda forgot to do the other two lol
