It was late last night and I watched til the last pitch.....so I had to do a double take on the 2-0 score here. Believe me, the M's didn't need an insurance run.....we couldn't touch their 2 relievers. Final 1-0.
I don't ever remember home vs away records being as favorable to home teams as this season. ?? This ain't the NFL. It used to be little advantage in MLB IIRC, but I haven't done a deep dive on the subject.
There was a book — can’t remember the name — coauthored by a stats guy and a psychologist. Examined a bunch of related phenomena in sports generally, worldwide. One conclusion they reached was that the home field advantage is real and is due almost entirely to officiating bias. Pretty sure they covered ball/strike calls. Crowd size was a factor, too.
My take, in a physical game such as NFL, NHL, NBA.....the home crowd does make a difference. Players do play up, do have the adrenaline rushes from that intangible called momentum and crowd energy. Baseball is not a physical sport as much as it is an execution sport. Which is why I didn't recall there being as much of a home field advantage.
Man this team is bad on the road. I mean they’re not exactly world beaters at home, last home stand excepted, but they’re truly crappy outside PNC Park. 12-31…🤮
26-21 looks like a pretty good record at home. Then I looked deeper and that is only better than 4 NL teams. We rank 11th out of 15 at home and 14th out of 15 on the road.

Sanford's double
So you’re saying there’s a chance? I better start taking better care of myself so I can live long enough to see these guys thrive in Pittsburgh.
Another Adonis Bomb!
Such an easy-looking swing.
He better be on the untouchable list!
He keeps this up for a couple more weeks, he should get an apartment in Greensboro lol
Florentino with another home run. This one to dead center. Kinda look a tad wind aided. Will be interested on the EV on it.
It was over 100 mph
Florentino bomb! Or Adonis Bomb!
Beat me to it
Wyatt Sanford with a first pitch triple to lead off the game for the Marauders

Didn't the Nationals win a 7 game world series where the home team lost every game?
Good call but that was recent 2019.
I'm thinking more like the 70's - 2000's.
I have a couple of theories:
1. Too much partying on the road. Like Tenacious D chronicled in their song "The Road," it's fucking hard, so dudes seek an outlet.
2. Bad sushi 🍣 Sushi is very popular and you can get it anywhere. That can't be a good thing.
Both of my theories can cause performance degradation. I just used a four syllable word...just added validity to my theories. Oops! I did it again!

Cueto Cueto Cueto
Zack Wheeler 8-3 2.27 ERA 135 strike outs pitches for the Phillies early afternoon.
Paul Skenes 4-7 2.03 ERA 115 strike outs pitches later in the afternoon.
Will today's outcomes have any bearing on who starts the all star game? or is it already decided?

Time to fire the travel secretary...
Maybe hire that Costanza guy. The Yankees won on the road back then, right?
Didn’t he put them up in a bad Ramada in Milwaukee?
Probably took the fall for Nuttin. Bob originally wanted to rent a campsite.
They did win on the road until they switched to cotton uniforms.

Their road record is slightly better than Colorado’s. Says it all right there.
The Bucs are 19-9 at PNC under Kelly but on the road (7-17), still struggling mightily. Frustrating
