There were some positive signs with Ortiz in his start on Saturday night. His velocity averaged 96.3, but there were troubling signs as well.
For instance, Ortiz’s fastball was put into play nine times and had an average exit velocity of 97.3 mph (not good). In addition, Ortiz’s slider had just three whiffs.
Excellent outing for Ortiz in AA. With work in the Minors and MLB, he has 105 IP so far in 2023.
Top Pitcher at A+ GBO should have been Tom Harrington who started, went 5 innings and left with a large lead that the BP fiddled away, giving up 5 runs in the 7th. Harrington is also over 100 IP in this, his first year for the Pirates. Love the power outburst, but a tough loss for a team that still has a chance to make the playoffs in the Sally League.
Bradenton in A is probably the best bet to make the playoffs in the FSL
