With the trade deadline fast approaching, the Pirates made their first move, sending Carlos Santana to the Milwaukee Brewers for prospect Jhonny Severino
Well, I opted for the 20% off for a one year subscription. Very much enjoyed the work of Anthony and Bucs on P2 this year so subscribing to this start-up was a no-brainer. Hope everything is going well with you John.
I'm doing well, relegated to history writing at least until the end of the year. I'm good with that though, since I was doing it daily anyway. Just bored today while I wait for a site certificate update, so I popped in to see what was going on. I like how the comment section is set up here.
Just getting started, but I like the setup, and I'm a morning person, so the daily morning item, and the emphasis on the Bradenton A and FCL teams is excellent. Thrilled with where the Pirates are at heading into 2024, and still light candles and pray for a managerial change!
While the start of this year was definitely unexpected, the Pirates are right now where I predicted they would be back in March. I said below .500 before the All-Star break, play .500 ball after the break, 75 wins for the season. I could still see that happen
That game was frustrating as it is. A couple of REALLY BAD missed calls didn't help. Nolasco doubled down the line, clear as day foul, but ump called it foul. Castillo caught one leaning into dugout, but they didn't call it out. Automatic Strike Zone screwed De Los Santos over, called a clear ball a strike 3. Rough night all around.
I think it was JJ I saw mention it, but I think they've moved to a single plane in the middle of the zone. a plane at the front and back was giving big problems with breakers. Cause high ones would clip top of back plane, and low ones the bottom of front plane.
Excited for the gameday threads! Pretty content with the return on the santana trade, would probably take something similar for hill assuming he goes. Though, I have no good idea on who is going to pick up those innings once he does
Funny story about Erik Bedard, I was a really big fan of his, so I was excited to see him pitch for the Pirates the first time. Left work early, got into a car accident on way home, first thing I asked doctor 'Do you think I'll be home in time to watch the Pirates game' lol. I wasn't.
Well for one thing, I don't remember this many names thrown around last year. It was more everyone calling on Reynolds, as expected, and then us mentioning who we thought maybe would get calls. As of now, I've seen: Hill, Holderman, Keller, and Bednar
I won't be surprised if they end up trading just a couple more warm bodies.
Druw's first 90 PAs in affiliated ball have been _woof_. Shoulder injury couldn't have helped but not a good start for a guy who was a possible swing-change-needing-candidate. We haven't done well with those so far (Hayes).
Great to see Solometo settle down and complete five innings. Is there a place to track down advanced metrics and pitch spin/movement for his Altoona starts?
Yep for the Pirates system, it's only Bradenton and Indianapolis we can get data for. They have tracking in Altoona and probably Greensboro, just not available to the public
Can we please call up Jared Jones and let Tank be his catcher?
Who plays RF then?
Jack
I´m willing to give Bae one more shot in centerfield
I think Bae is right where he should be, not on the roster
how long until you think Jebb gets a shot?
I would definitely be fine giving him a shot in center
Then what do you do with Endy? Leave Tank in RF. I liked Bae, but was not impressed with his 2023 work on offense OR defense.
was reading a few months ago that Jones and Davis have a good repoire
I think we give tank 1-2 SP that he can become familiar with and catch a few times a week for next year
I was promised donuts and OJ if I showed up...

OJ is still in prison right? I lost track.
I said donuts, nothing about OJ lol
I knew I should have got it in writing
Bradenton had a couple of position players finish out that game.
Yep, things were so bad, that's a position player in the 'Top Pitcher' part of the Bradenton game lol
Oh crap, I missed that, lol. I had checked last night and only remembered Juan Jerez.
Yep Tanner Tredaway ended up the only 'pitcher' worthwhile to put there lol. Juan Jerez, Tredaway and Deivis Nadal all pitched lol

I’ve read where that auto strike zone is having issues with large breaking balls.

It was a breaking ball high. Very clearly not a strike. Called strike three
‘ Top Pitcher - Yunior This: 1.1 IP, H’
We have a P named ‘This’. Is This any good? Or is This just filler? Is This age appropriate? Has This gotten old?
Fixed. You have now idea how long I fought with autocorrect on his FIRST name just to go right past fixing his last name lol
Btw, Autocorrect is as annoying as heck, but I didn’t make it a week with it off, lol.
I wouldn't last a day without it lol
I was gonna just Tweet that to you, but the Joke Factor was too high to ignore. 😜😜
Grateful for this site :) Please help fill in my withdrawal from the decline @ PP2

My only concern is who gets those innings if Hill is gone. Luis Ortiz? Roansy Contreras? Neither seem ideal really.
Erik Bedard would like to make a comeback.

The doc was just shielding you from disappointment.
Doctors know best, right? Lol

Bednar to the Dbacks for Druw and a pitching prospect. Won't happen but a man can dream

Ya, can't argue that. Not much confidence in our hitting development

I looked on the savant page but it didnt seem like they had data for this start so i dunno
I did the same this morning. I couldn’t find any game data just the traditional stat lines.
I think it’s only available for the FSL and all of AAA.
