Maybe it's a me thing but Khristian Curtis gets like zero attention and received an equivalent-value overslot deal as Mike Burrows and Max Kranick.

I think he's the most likely right hander from round 4 on to stick as a starter from last years draft. Woods is more likely but he's a lefty lol.

If you you want to know who is 3rd best... the scene from Inglorious Bastards would best describe my opinion on any of them being starters or speaking Italian (Escrolani not included).

Did anyone else see Chapman's uhh... interesting Instagram post?

Pretty disturbing, at least she wasn't underage but he might have mommy issues.

On the scale of Jose Tabata's Baby-snatcher wife to Felipe Rivero's sister, where does this one fall?

Expand full comment

Sounds like he’s in the Norman Bates aisle.

Expand full comment

1. Chapman feeling up his mother

2. Rivero and his sister (We actually saw them at PF)

3. Tabata's situation

Very close to the Felipe Rivero end of the spectrum, actually! It was a video of him laying with his mother on a couch, and, well, he was squeezing her breasts. I think I need to go wash my hands after typing that.

Looking forward to seeing Cruz missiles launched out of PNC. Hoping JS can figure out how to mitigate prolonged slumps. It's just ST, but looks like we've got the potential to have a really good offense this season.

only 105 off the bat, hope Oneil's not nursing an injury.

I heard hes working on targeting specific exit velos as 115 over and over was too boring

Durning spring training, I am pretty sure pitchers are placed in groups for their scheduled work-out days. Otherwise, every pitcher woul be scheduled to pitch the same day and have the same days off. I would like to think the Pirates didn't change their entire schedule for one break-out game. This is my hope why Harrington is not pitching.

Well, forget my idea.

How hard would it have been for the FO to give an explanation for removing Harrington? It's just another example of them not caring 2 cents about us fans.

Expand full comment

This FO has no regard for fans at all. Just like Huntington's. Nutting must think fans are rubes too if he continues to hire smug Amherst nerds who think of themselves as professional turd-polishers getting one over on dumb yinzer fans year over year.

Expand full comment

I’ll disagree a little there. I spoke with Huntington numerous times and he always willing to engage with the fans and answer questions etc. Sure, Huntington engaged in politician speak, but that’s part of the job. He generally offered far more detailed explanations and was more willing to engage with fans than this FO. This is the most black box, guarded, shielded, whatever term you want to use, front office that I’ve ever seen.

Expand full comment

NH was extremely approachable at PF. He would take photos and engage in conversation without looking bored.

Expand full comment

I encountered him multiple times at PF and at least one other time outside of it. He patiently answered questions and seemed to enjoy speaking with fans. I’ve even heard tales of him engaging with fans in the parking lots after games and speaking with them for extended periods. Not sure if it’s true, but based on what I personally witnessed I could believe it. Can’t say I’d believe the same thing about this front office.

Expand full comment

Yeah, it's because they hate the fans.

Or, it could be they want to gather all data and medical info before they get overzealous with an announcement.

Of all the things to complain about with this FO, this is a rather odd one.

Expand full comment

This is not the only thing I complain about with this FO. They're unrepentant anti-fan assholes at every juncture.

Expand full comment

Incompetent, sure. Hate fans, no.

Expand full comment

If they don't hate fans, they may as well. That's a lot of incompetence.

Well stated! It's BC's responsibility to cultivate that type of relationship with the city and the fans - how many Assistant GM's does he have working for him now? Somebody has to be in place that would think the fans would wonder why that was happening.

Here’s hoping the reason Harrington being removed from breakout game roster isn’t what we all fear.

Expand full comment

Probably precautionary - we'd have heard if he injured his arm during a bullpen or a scrimmage.

CSN going down makes the 4th OF spot competition one person smaller. Hoping harrington isnt hurt and thats why he was taken off the breakout game roster

Usually an area of great concern in Spring Training is in Runs Scored, but the Pirates are tied for 3rd in the Grapefruit League. B'more (109) and Toronto (100) are leading with the Pirates and Yankees tied at 98 Runs Scored. Just about every position player is doing well, except for the 2 guys at 1B - Tellez and Joe. I think Joe will be fine, and Tellez is not hitting for much average or power yet, but the 5 Walks against only 4 K's is a positive - seeing the ball, just not converting contact into hits.

The Pirates will have to make some tough decisions over the next week, and I would be very surprised if they were not wearing out the cell phones trying to make some pre-season trades. This is the area where you have parts who are just short of making our team, but stockpiling those parts at AAA may not be the answer for either party. If the right fit can be found with another team, it is a benefit to those guys. I think the Pirates are that strong positionally going into 2024, and the Pirates are probably one of the deepest pitching clubs in MLB.
