It looked like Johnson was hit in either the back of his hand or on a finger. It certainly hurt given the way he rolled around on the ground afterward. Hope there are no broken bones.
Jun-Seok Shim is back on the Injured List. I'm guessing his first season is done with four starts. The plan was to send him to Bradenton at some point, but I doubt they go through with that even if this IL trip is minor
Why is Jase Bowen still at A+ GBO? A slash of 262/339/486/824 OPS, 38 EBH incl 22 HR, 84 RBI, 22 of 26 SB for an 85% success rate, and has dropped his K Rate from 29.2% in 2022 mostly at A, to 25.2% all at A+. Oh, he is also an excellent defensive OF, playing all 3 OF positions if I am not mistaken. He will turn 23 in early Sep.
The Pirates have one person at AAA who may add something in the last month of the season and that is Canaan Smith-Njigba, a LH hitter. There are others at AAA such as Mitchell, and about 3 or 4 OF's at AA that the Pirates are still waiting to see if they will develop further.
Bowen has shown improvement, and Siani and Head are a baseball year younger. The group of OF's at A are talented enough to advance quickly, so better start clearing the path forward.
I’m not seeing it on the A level outfielders. At all. Siani is 22 years old and is batting .228 with no power. Bowen’s stats are OK and he’s got tools, but he strikes out way too much. Head hasn’t played in weeks. This is basically a lost season for him.
The Pirates have two younger outfielders with potential to be impact players: Lonnie White, Jr. and Shalin Polanco. The former can’t stay on the field for more than a month and the latter was just getting going when he went down with an injury as well.
my dream of aguiar being the pirates altuve is still alive!!
@melkel your guy is heading up to hangout with the halos already
Been out of service, probably not going to be able to trade for him now lol

Dislike! Well hopefully he can be ready for a health start next year
Speedy recoveries to both Termarr and Mr White.

Got hit in the head by a pitch, concussion protocol I think.
Ohhh right right, i remember now

Another interesting 40 man decision. Probably should have been there for a few weeks.
Your boy Nolan Schanuel is getting called up today by the Angels.

Bowen and Head and Siani were all drafted in the same year (2019)
I would think they are the same baseball year
And the same year as Tres Gonzalez and Brannigan

Bummer of a season for all the upper level outfielder...like, every one of them. sheesh.
Henry Davis?
I suppose he counts as an outfielder, fair enough!
Bowen for alonso if we ask the mets really nicely and say pleaase
Definitely an interesting case of seeing what he does in altoona to know whether or not he is real
