Overview

In three years at Vanderbilt, as a spot starter and long reliever, Reilly showed impressive stuff but consistently struggled with his control. His fastball sits at 94-95 mph, reaching 98, and misses a lot of bats. The pitch has enough movement that scouts rate it as well above average. He also throws a slider and cutter, and on infrequent occasions a change. His stuff was good enough to produce a K/9 in college of 11.7, but he also had a 5.8 BB/9. Control was a problem in summer ball as well. He could profile as a reliever long-term, but the Pirates had him starting in 2024. Baseball America ranked Reilly 233rd among draft prospects and MLB Pipeline 219th. He signed for a bonus just slightly below the $455,600 slot value.

2023

Reilly pitched in nine games for Bradenton in 2023 and showed a lot of ability to miss bats. He fanned 19 in 10.2 IP, although he also walked eight.
