I mean, they had an opportunity at loading the system with power arms that all throw like that.
Alexander Meckley was taken in the 12th by the Nats. They could’ve easily taken him in the 11th. Would’ve still be really good value. He throws up upper 90s and has a SP profile. Probably signs slightly above the 150K. Probably 250K at the most.
Brady Tygat and Fran Oschell III were both also taken in the 12th and t100.
Pierce George was taken in the 13th and they could’ve taken him in the 12th. Again, still would’ve been great value in the 12th. He t100 but more of RP profile.
That’s just to name a few. Even if they went that route with the first two picks on Day 3 I would’ve been happy with the Day 3.
I like Janik. He was the best College Catcher left on the board for Day 3. Him or Luke Heyman.
Brian Curley was a good pick. I had him on my list of Day 3 “wishes”.
Taylor Penn is interesting but at least 50 of those types of Preps were taken Day 3 and most don’t pan out.
McShane is “sort of” a power arm. Mid 90s, with power breaking stuff.
I liked Joe Vogatsky as a Day 3 pick last year(he was ‘23 eligible) so taking him a year later I guess isn’t bad.
Patrick and Farrow are somewhat interesting. Neither will likely hit enough.
All and all though, Day 3 grade - “F”. There was just so much talent left of the board and they went very safe and mostly guys that are likely just “system depth” and RP profiles.
Several years ago I decided to have a little competition between players without them even knowing I exist. Siani vs Head. Siani's numbers in AA don't look terrible. Head still in A. But I have given up on him.
Ditto. I am not giving up hope on him yet. I keep telling myself he is just taking his time. Watch Head finish the year at AAA with a nice write up by some one on Bleacher Report.
Who the fuck could he possibly mean? He already has Yordany listed? It’s not Sanford, Brazoban doesn’t play SS and I don’t think “Javy” would apply. I don’t see how it could be Caro, he was Severino listed at 1B.
So weird?
And btw, that’s the worst “future rotation” or “future line-up” I’ve ever seen!!
It all depends on how much they can save with other signings. Plus they can go 5% over, although they left money unspent last year and didn't sign everybody.
Yeah, and in his FSS write-up, they made it sound like a big 2024 year might've pushed him into top 100 picks. Pirates seem to be buying 2023 upside with down 2024's on some picks.
Another OF. College P obsession seems to have subsided. The int'l program is going to have to start doing something or they'll be pulling pitchers out of the stands.
Ole Miss leading hitter with some homers for what it is worth. But as Melkel said.. he is almost 30 (approximately). slight edit - only 23 for a 5th year Sr. not too bad.
Griffin will be sipping the finest brew $ can buy while the others shot gunning Natty Daddy's. I'd pull the old I will pay you later until his soon to be way richer than my arse caught on.
In other news, David Matoma evidently is off IL, although there's no transaction listed, as he pitched a scoreless inning today (usual caveat about possible MiLB.com errors).
Mike Burrows had his rehab transferred to the FCL, probably because everybody else is off until Friday.
Which drafted players didn't sign?
Griffin signs $315,425 over slot.
According to the Pirates, Gavin Adams has reached triple digits.

Day 1 - A-
Day 2 - B+
Day 3 - F

May as well start getting familiar. Another Holliday.
any guess on where Griffin will rank in the mlb 100?
kinda hoping that this guy is trade fodder in july 2025
I know Kiley mentioned when he did his final draft rankings that he'd be 71 on his list
maybe he is part of the next wave core?
cf griffen
2B keiner
ss javy
3b yhordanny
dh blanco
rf polanco
1b serverino
lf suero
c plaz
Kennedy, Matoma, shim, mueth
"NEXT wave core???"
I'm liking all the O ending last names.

Murphy and I have had a Siani vs Head battle going on for a few years now lol I'm team Siani
Ditto. I am not giving up hope on him yet. I keep telling myself he is just taking his time. Watch Head finish the year at AAA with a nice write up by some one on Bleacher Report.
They bringing in Baez to be the veteranosity at SS?

My guess would be Rivas. I think he made the lineup in jest
Well then, any “future rotation” or “future lineup” with prospects is stupid imo.
By that time Gregory will be done with Japan
Finish off with a prep arm, to make it another pitcher heavy draft!!!! (11 to 10)
Big RHP, with a commitment to WKU. So, I have to imagine he could be signable
10 arms to 10 bats with last selection to split the 50/50.
Vogatsky is a big spinner, with deception and fastball up to 96. JMU closer
Friday night starter for Wright State. Looks like he got hit a lot. Not many Ks. But struck out 11 in 8 innings in his final start
The last two picks, Curley and Patrick, as the most interesting of the day to me. Not sure they'll be easy signs.
GMBC's regime has managed a lot of signings that were deemed not easy.
It all depends on how much they can save with other signings. Plus they can go 5% over, although they left money unspent last year and didn't sign everybody.
Andrew Patrick sounds interesting. Ranked 435 on FSS and 284 on BA. Called him a "tooled up" outfielder who needs to improve contact.
Missed early 2024 with broken thumb, looks like it affected his hitting. Big 2023 numbers.
Yeah, and in his FSS write-up, they made it sound like a big 2024 year might've pushed him into top 100 picks. Pirates seem to be buying 2023 upside with down 2024's on some picks.

Curley was heading to Georgia as a transfer.
Looks interesting. Throws as hard as 96. Probably not a slot sign.
Another OF.
They immediately changed it to 3B.
Ole Miss leading hitter with some homers for what it is worth. But as Melkel said.. he is almost 30 (approximately). slight edit - only 23 for a 5th year Sr. not too bad.
Looks like he played 3B last year, LF this year but season ended in May, thumb injury.
Guessing we won't see him this year.
At least the last couple of picks can buy the young kids alcohol and cigarettes in Bradenton. I kid I kid, they're just kinda old.
That's a good point though.
Griffin will be sipping the finest brew $ can buy while the others shot gunning Natty Daddy's. I'd pull the old I will pay you later until his soon to be way richer than my arse caught on.
I mean, maybe this is them getting no more than $150K slot picks to save any post-10th overslot for one prep kid they like? lol
Oh wait, we back here now? lol I switched to other thread cause seemed the few commenting were over there.
Looks like this Lege kid was just down the street in 2022 before going to Ole Miss
No idea which thread to use
Well I'm staying here then, since it was used the first two days

Mike Burrows had his rehab transferred to the FCL, probably because everybody else is off until Friday.
Well, a hitter at least.
Lots of dingers. That's something they normally don't like. Seems to have been more of a DH in college.
Jays take Tibbitts. Bastards.
