Why the picture of Greensboro’s field?

Holmes is a free agent this year. Led the majors in blown saves (by a lot). Underlying data looks good. Still think he will get paid a lot more than this, but if you could sign him for 5/60, would you?

No way. Never sign a reliever for five years.

Little discussed outside of Philly (where I happen to live) is that the Phils have been below .500 after the ASB following a dominant first half

Wheeler dealing

They let him go 111 pitches. Then poof, the lead is gone thanks to the pen.

I confess: I have never heard of these Phillies relievers.

Get used to them. They'll all be Pirates next year.

We wish. Hoffman, Strahm, and Kerkering are all good. The Mets are just en fuego right now. You guys don't remember all the hype surrounding Kerkering in last year's playoffs?

Expand full comment

Sorry, I guess I’m out of it. I have no idea who these guys are.

Well... Kerkering is a rookie. Strahm and Hoffman have been around for a while, but Hoffman sucked until he moved to the bullpen.

Senga starting for the Mets. Another questionable decision to put it mildly. This is like a first start in spring training. I don't get it, risking game 1 when you only can lose 3 games and go home.

My only thought is that theyve burned a whole lot of pitching the last several days just to get to this point

They've got Megill with 4 days rest.

He'll probably relieve Senga.

Cleveland came to play. No rust after the time off

Prediction time! Im gonna go Cleveland in 6, Yanks in 6, Phils in 7, and Dads in 7

I knew this whole trying to drink less coffee idea was a bad idea, DS are only 5 games oops. Cle in 4, Yanks in 5, Phils in 4, Dads in 5

They should be 7. I’d prefer a slightly shorter regular season by about a week and longer playoff series.

Using an opener in Game 1 of ALDS.....it's still a thing for Tigers. All other 7 teams going with traditional starters.

And that didn't go well. Not surprised one bit. If you don't have SP for the playoffs, what the heck are you doing Hinch?

Expand full comment

Maybe trading Flaherty wasn’t such a great move……maybe.

Hinch pieced together the pitching during Aug-Sept run and it worked miraculously. Just feel like you have to manage in the playoffs differently. But if they don't have starters, that's a problem.

Not working today, Cleveland bats are on fire.
