Wow. Busy day today and I check the internet to find we signed German and Taylor. I like both moves. German is probably better than both Perez and Marco. Taylor is a true CF.
I really think this is a good position group. Also think the pitching staff is really deep. They just need a couple guys to figure it out. Could be a fun year if things click
Mackey has reported it as well. Minor league deal for now.
This is one I can support. German is a solid starter with a decent track record. Good strikeout to innings pitched ratios. Pitched a perfect game last year.
He's a good pitcher when he is not throwing drunken tirades in the clubhouse. My question is, if you are going to sign this guy, like the man above says, why not Bauer? Whatever the case, we shall see what kind of manager Shelton is with Chapman and German in the clubhouse. The days of gifting each other fine bourbon and laughing it up may be ending.
This one is not really a fair criticism of BC. The Twins gave up on him and the Phils only had him long enough to trad him to Pittsburgh. He had was coming off TJ and then another serious arm issue. I was bummed when Burdi elected FA when outrighted after spending most of the 2020 season on the 60 day. Padres had him and gave up on him as did the Cubs. He would have not been much help in the time since the end of the 2020 season when he was outrighted.
Yeah hope he says healthy. He was doing so well when his last injury with the Bucs happened. Still remember watching that game. Thought his elbow blew apart again. Wish him well.
Here is the old school mentality in me or maybe you can call it a team attitude. I would hate to see Olivares, Bae or Palacios get sent down because of their spring training performances. They all performed better than Taylor because Taylor was not here while the rest of the guys have been with the team working for the last 5 weeks.
I get what you are saying, but Taylor has not played at all. I know many like his glove, but I wouldn't expect much with his bat. He was a .220 hitter last year and no spring at bats.

Nice piggy-back game!
Hudson Head has a nice swing.
Was just thinking that, he didn't pull his hips out trying to pull the ball like I've seen him do before.
MLB trade rumors apparently has it!
pirates signed german, it seems
Heartwarming writeup on mlbtraderumors.
Who's next, Trevor Bauer?
That's big news........source?
trust me, bro
Agent beat me to it just like old time lol! Popped up on my score app alerts. Heyman reported it. Minor league deal

Plan is probably to give him 4 weeks of ST and Milb camp, not enough time to break camp with MLB club. $1.5M is a bargain signing.
Drunk or sober?
Read the Mackey piece. Supposedly they did their due diligence on the alcoholism thing.

Gorski is never going to hit ML pitching stepping into the bucket like he does…how many years of MILB does he need to correct that?
Jack with a HR against a lefty..... Nice!
You never know when you're going to see something at a baseball game that you've never seen before, nor will ever see again! Weird injury to catcher.
What happened? Missed most of the game as was not home…..
That was strange
Yanks reverence for Torre = ours for Leyland.
*pencils in Quinn to rotation*
Wouldn't it be nice if we got this Priester every start? It was just five days ago Priester gave up 5 runs.
With a pencil #3....maybe.
as he always should have been
Nice to see Burdi. BC gave up on him, a little unusual to not stick with a guy thru a major injury.
This one is not really a fair criticism of BC. The Twins gave up on him and the Phils only had him long enough to trad him to Pittsburgh. He had was coming off TJ and then another serious arm issue. Fair point, forgot it was two serious injuries back-to-back. Still nice to see he has a shot to make the Yankees pen.

Well Torres has Priesters number. Still looking good through 4.
Michael Taylor signs with the Pirates? Does he begin the season getting his at bats in Indianapolis?
Can't be optioned.

So Olivares and Palacios and Bae now on the bubble with Michael A. on board. Not a fan of Taylor, will be nice to have a true CFer though.
I'd rate this a 4 out of 10 grade. Barely moves the needle for me.
With Bae and Palacios having barely played, this is a solid move. A key will be how Shelton uses Taylor and Suwinski.
I get what you are saying, but Taylor has not played at all. I know many like his glove, but I wouldn't expect much with his bat. He was a .220 hitter last year and no spring at bats.
BC and the rest of the FO must really see something in Brannigan that they like! Getting lots of play.
a branni-bomb!
