Triolo up to plate with runners on first and third, nobody out. Then he strikes out. That is my biggest concern with him. 30% strike out rate is too high for a singles hitter.
Once he got promoted past double A, he was 29% in Indianapolis, 31% in the majors and 30% in spring training this year. I believe you that he will figure it out. Look at the way he has figured out how to play different positions. As long as he keeps hitting .300, I probably shouldn't worry too much. :)
I like that they interview players and former players during the game, but it would be nice if they could find away to still keep up with the play by play.
I thought Hannah was smarter than this. She insinuated in her interview that there is still a competition going on for second base, lol. Maybe she forgot the competition got sent to Indy.
But who is he competing with, Alika 'Mendoza' Williams. Peguero and Gonzales are in Indy and that is his only real competition for 2nd base. What Shelton said is just a typical comment for a guy managing in a dysfunctional organization.
No doubt Ben's pulling Derek's strings. That's why they hand batting coaches with no experience head coaching jobs. In the end I don't care whose idea it was to make that statement because of the fact it's disingenuous and built on their opinion that fans don't know anything. But to be fair I didn't hear him say it and I haven't read the actual quote.
I'm stunned to see that the Pirates wasted another round of good pitching with no run support.
Again, cancel ST. The team is in mid-season form.
Shelton says they’ll set the roster tomorrow. By my count, they have to cut a dozen players.
I could see at least 3 to the DL: Bae, Grandal, and Mlod.
I'm guessing Holderman will be on that list as well. He had the flu that was going through ...ended up being hospitalized and lost 15 lbs.
Have a weird feeling with Grandal going full Chisenhaul
Martin Perez for Cy Young. You heard it here first.
most impressive arm this spring, that's for sure.
YDLS and Burdi both looking good after injuries. Yeri hitting 97.
Shelton running team out of another inning. Putting on his high school 1st and 3rd play.
Wondering if Fangraphs and PECOTA factored in the -6 WAR of Shelton?

He only struck out 19.8% of the time in the minors. I doubt he strikes out 30%, he’ll figure it out.

Given his other skills a .200 average might be enough
He’s 6.3 WAR / 162 games thus far
Yes but that’s after his hamate injury. If he continues to strikeout at that rate through April I will start to worry a little.
No way man... after 52 games and 200 ABs in the majors, every player's career path is etched in stone.
I like that they interview players and former players during the game, but it would be nice if they could find away to still keep up with the play by play.
I find it useless and annoying. I'm much more interested in watching these guys play then hearing vapid talk and cliches.
My biggest problem is when there is a shot off the wall, but they ignore all of the action during the interview.

I think that is via Shelton who today said nothing is etched in stone.

I agree.
Shelton got on my last nerve about 3 years ago, lol.
I'm not sure Shelton actually makes decisions or if he is just told what to do.

Yankees sending a AAAA squad.
The other split squad played the Mexico Red Devils. Bauer started and pitched well. Cano smoked a HR
Yankees didn't exactly bring their A squad today. Other than Stroman, this seems like their AAA team.
They are playing in Mexico today, I think. Maybe all the regulars are there.
No Reynolds again today. Ill, injured, or just needing a break to get around his batting struggles?
