Gerritt Cole having his right elbow tested. He could finally succumb to Tommy John surgery.

Love that I wrote shit about Bae and Peguero and now they are showing life, the Peguero HR last game was against a 33 year old career minor leaguer, but still.

How do you see it shaping? I’m thinking two NRI have a chance (DJ and Rainer,) so Palacios and Strzelecki go?

Expand full comment
WTM's avatar

Yorke makes more sense to me if he can play 1B. DJ couldn’t be optioned when Horwitz came back. Hall could, but he hasn’t hit much. Palacios is an easy cut for me, but BC seems obsessed with the guy.

The bullpen is seriously complicated. I like several of the NRIs more than at least a couple of the roster guys, including Strzelecki. Based on ST so far, I’d rather have Rainer and Borucki than Strzelecki and Mayza.

Anyone else have issues with MLB.tv? Kept telling me I can't access it and my account on MLB.com was showing a connection error in the settings. Only the free game is working.

Listening to this game and I think I heard the Pirate announcer say that Delay would probably be the back up to Joey Bart, and Henry Davis and Endy Rodriguez have also caught games. Did I hear that correctly?

Mediots readily buy into the notion that guys learn to hit ML pitching by facing AAA pitching.

My conspiracy theory is that the Pirates front office gives bad news to Brown so he can break it to us slowly.

Forgot to mention, Henry Davis looked very good behind the plate and Jared Jones is not the easiest guy to catch. Close to showing a handful of NRI's the door?

I thought so too. I was enjoying the game at a local refreshery and thought exactly the same thing.

I can recall in the last year or two comparing Tank to Ryan Doumit and the Iron Glove... But, honestly, he looked solid back there yesterday... Gives me good vibrations.

It looked like he was trying to go opposite field again today. A different approach than last summer.

Expand full comment
Mel Schuster - emjayinTN's avatar

Waiting, seeing the ball, and then swinging straight out is something that will improve the quality and consistency of contact. And, he has enough muscle to hit it out to any field without trying to turn on it and pull it to LF. He has made some definite improvements in the quality of his receiving and is doing the same with his hitting.

I think being the number one pick, the last 2 years he felt some pressure to step in and be the man. I think he is feeling like one of the guys now as I see a different attitude this year. I am pulling for him.

Will Crowe mentioned when Yean gets in the game. Looks like he had a good 2024 in KBO.

5-1, 3.57 era, 43 K's in 40 IP and then had elbow surgery.

Saw some BP at Pirate City this morning. The guy who stood out was a tall, lean left-handed hitter who barreled the ball almost every time, with a smooth, easy swing. They're not wearing numbered jerseys yet, but I'm pretty sure that was Edward Florentino.
