Overview
The Pirates signed the 24-year-old Quintana about six months after the start of the 2025 signing period. He had three years of experience in the Cuban League, although he also missed two years due to a suspension. His last season there was 2022-23, when he had a 5.29 ERA in 15 starts and three relief appearances. (It appears to be a very high-offense league; Quintana played on a good team and had the best ERA of their starters.) His big pitch is a slider and his fastball has reached 97 mph. He also throws a curve and change. In his pro debut, his fastball averaged 93.5 and reached 95.
