The Pittsburgh Pirates found themselves in a great position to take a 2-0 series lead against the Atlanta Braves but for the second time in three appearances All-Star closer couldn’t hold a late lead and they now head into game three tied one a piece.
Pittsburgh hammered four home runs with Ke’Bryan Hayes, Alfonso Rivas, Josh Palacios, and Bryan Reynolds all going deep. For Hayes, he picked up the home run and a double, one of three players with multi-hits on the night.
It wasn’t his best start of the year, but certainly not his worst as Mitch Keller allowed three runs and nine hits over five innings while striking out four. After a really rough July plus one August start, it was a step in the right direction.
On the mound will be two former first round pick prep pitchers, Max Fried for the Braves, and Quinn Priester with the home Pirates.
The Pirates 2019 first round pick, Priester has picked up the win in each of his last two starts.
